| UNOFFICIAL Guide for CLP Membership Secretaries Actual CLP membership – how to do the sums This guide has been written in response to a request from the Membership Secretary of Hackney North & Stoke Newington CLP. If you want to know how many members your CLP has really got, you have to do some sums on the Labour.people CLP Membership report issued quarterly by Head Office. Across the top of each CLP printout is the following information in summary (the figures are illustrative): Male Female Unknown Standard Other rates New members In arrears CPM Total members 500 250 250 0 375 125 10 100 400 To calculate your actual membership you have to undertake four steps: 1) look at every name in the full print out 2) highlight every entry in arrears for 6 months or more* 3) count up the total of highlighted entries manually 4) deduct that number from Total members * The Labour Party Rule Book 2003 Chapter 2 C. 4 (d) says "A member shall be deemed to have lapsed from membership if s/he has been in arrears for six months and has not responded to a request to pay the arrears. " In the above example, if the number In arrears for 6 months or more totalled 80, then the CLP’s Actual Total members = 420 |
