MOTION PASSED BY WESTON CLP

APRIL 2006

Leadership - rift

"Weston-super-Mare CLP notes with alarm the media feeding-frenzy about the secret loans to the Labour Party and the continuous briefing to the press regarding the apparent rift between Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.

These issues are doing the Labour Party irreparable harm which can only act in a negative manner on our electoral chances at local and national level and could be construed as bringing the Labour Party into disrepute.

We urge the General Secretary to act immediately to bring these problems under effective control before our membership base sinks to unsustainable levels and cynicism in the public at large mitigates against our chances for a fourth term in office."
