National Committee - 2005
Candidate Election statement

Dr Gaye Johnston

(Dr.) Gaye Johnston was a co-founder of Save the Labour Party. She was first Acting Secretary and has been Secretary ever since.  Her vision was that STLP would be a focal point for everyone in the Party who is unhappy with New Labour, the current leadership style, and who wishes to rebuild Labour as a democratic socialist organisation.

A member of the Labour Party all her adult life. Gaye believes that to quit now would be to surrender our Party to those who have subverted it for their own purposes. Gaye is the author of STLP’s first pamphlet (2004).

Gaye has been Labour Parliamentary candidate in Cleveland and Swindon and a Darlington Borough Councillor, holding the Vice Chair of the Housing Committee. She is former national Secretary of the Labour Campaign for Mental Health.  Gaye runs a Master’s course in Health and Social Services Management at Lancaster.
