Further to the adoption of a timetable for the Committee elections at the Save the Labour Party AGM on 13th November 2004, I am writing to invite you to nominate yourself for election to one of the eight elected places on the STLP Committee for 2005. The AGM also agreed that there be co-opted places for representatives from Wales, Scotland, and Local Government. If you would like to do so then please write, or e-mail, to me indicating your intention at the above address. This must arrive no later than 6/12/04. You are also invited to send a statement of no more than 150 words in support of your candidature. This statement will be circulated with the ballot paper. Please note that the word limit will be strictly adhered to and words in excess of the 150 will be deleted. Last year there was a delay whilst over-long statements were sent back to candidates for editing. A postal ballot will then be run and will close on 8/1/05. The votes will be counted by two independent scrutineers (appointed at the AGM), in London, on 8/1/05. Candidates are invited to attend the count. The STLP Committee meets at approximately six weekly intervals and meetings this year have taken place in London, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham. The venue is fixed, as far as possible, to suit Committee members. Committee members pay their own travel expenses to attend meetings but the Committee is looking into fare pooling arrangements. We look forward to hearing from you. With best wishes, Gaye Johnston Secretary Ballot timetable? Click here Next Committee meeting? Details TBA |
