| Post 2004 Conference MOTION PASSED BY GLASGOW CENTRAL CLP ON THURSDAY 18 NOVEMBER 2004 Conference Policy and Labour’s General Election manifesto This CLP notes decisions of the 2004 Annual Conference and the commitments made when Partnership in Power (PiP) was agreed in 1997, namely that the policy decisions of conference (including NPF minority positions taken through the complete policy-making cycle) would be taken on board by the parliamentary leadership when drafting the Party’s next election manifesto. This CLP believes that, if the leadership does not honour those undertakings, confidence in PiP will be further damaged, and efforts to retain, recruit and mobilise members in the run up to the forthcoming General Election will be undermined. This CLP therefore calls on the leadership when formulating the Party’s manifesto and the Clause V committee when finalising the Party’s pledges to include the decisions of Conference in the following areas: · the Warwick agreement · returning the railways to public ownership · council housing In relation to Iraq, this CLP also believes that to motivate members to work in the campaign for a 3rd term the Party must recognise the right of members to freedom of expression.
