| Post 2004 Conference EMERGENCY MOTION PASSED BY BROWNSWOOD BLP (HACKNEY NORTH & STOKE NEWINGTON CLP): ON THURSDAY 4 NOVEMBER 2004 A 3rd term manifesto to attract campaigning members This BLP 1. supports the efforts of the Labour Party to put forward radical proposals to secure victory in the forthcoming general election to win a 3rd term 2. notes the importance of workplace reforms in the agreement reached at the July National Policy Forum (NPF) in Warwick, now endorsed by conference 3. is encouraged by the recognition of the National Executive Committee to review Partnership in Power 4. remains committed to Labour as a mass membership democratic socialist party 5. regrets the prolonged downward trend in membership and activism since 1997 Therefore this BLP resolves that more needs to be done now to encourage members to stay in the Party and take an active part in campaigning in the forthcoming election We call on the government when formulating the Party’s General Election manifesto and the Clause V committee when finalising the Party’s General Election manifesto to recognise that getting more, active members would be greatly encouraged by the Leadership honouring its commitments to accept all the policy decisions made by the NPF and endorsed by Conference.
